Where: Lower level, Folsom Library
When: Your scheduled time
Before you come:
- Decide what you’d like help with and write down any questions.
- Upload your paper, slides, or project file so it’s easy to share. (Long projects may take more than one session.)
- Share your assignment sheet, notes, or outline if you have them.
- For group projects, bring your whole team if possible so everyone gets the same feedback.
At your session:
At the start, your mentor will ask about your project and what you’d like to focus on. Because time is limited, be ready to prioritize your main concerns.
- Writing projects: You may be asked to read your work aloud (or have it read to you). Hearing your words can help you catch tone, pacing, and typos.
- Design projects: The mentor will look at your work in progress, ask questions, and give feedback on how others might see it.
- Presentations: You can review your slides/outline, practice presenting, and get feedback in small sections.
How it works:
- Make an appointment with us and choose a 30-minute or 1-hour session.
- Before the session: Submit your assignment description and any draft you have.
- No draft? No problem, come talk about your ideas with us.
- Meet with us one-on-one or in a group.
- We will work together with you to help you clarify ideas, organize them, and develop effective writing strategies.
- Visits are private (unless you want your professor notified)
- You can request the same mentor for future visits
